Hackathons have long been part of how Pinsent Masons explores innovation. Now one of Europe’s top 10 most innovative law firms is bringing that mindset to Leeds.

Pinsent Masons is sponsoring the LegalTech in Leeds Hackathon on Friday 13 November 2026, run in partnership with Bruntwood SciTech. Colleagues from across the firm will be taking part in teams, and Sarah Wilson, Legal R&D Specialist, will join our judging panel.

About Pinsent Masons

Pinsent Masons is a purpose-led professional services business with law at its core. It combines legal expertise with a broad range of other professional disciplines, bringing together deep sector knowledge, diverse skills and international expertise to help clients tackle complex business challenges.

With 31 locations across four continents, the firm works as one connected global business, with a culture where different perspectives and skillsets help fuel innovation. That approach was recognised this year, when Pinsent Masons was named in the Top 10 most innovative European law firms in the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards 2026, scoring particularly highly for its investment in people and digital capabilities.

Innovation starts with mindset

For Pinsent Masons, innovation goes beyond technology.

“It is a mindset: being open to different perspectives, challenging established ways of working and finding better ways to deliver meaningful outcomes.”

Hackathons are nothing new to the firm. It has hosted and taken part in them as a way to bring people together to experiment and develop new ideas, most recently through its firmwide innovation challenge. It’s an environment the firm firmly believes in:

“We believe these environments are particularly powerful because they create space for people with different perspectives and skillsets to work together on practical problems, testing ideas and learning from one another.”

And it’s why they’re backing ours.

“That’s why we’re delighted to support the LegalTech in Leeds Hackathon and the next generation of talent and ideas developing within the region.”

On the day, a group of Pinsent Masons colleagues will join the Hackathon as participants, working in teams alongside students and professionals from across law and tech, and bringing the firm’s experience of hackathons with them.

Sarah Wilson, Legal R&D Specialist, will be on our judging panel, hearing the team pitches and helping select the winning ideas.
