LegalTech in Leeds - The Big Hack 2023

We are excited to announce that LegalTech in Leeds, in partnership with Bruntwood SciTech, will be hosting a full-day Hackathon on Friday 10^th March 2023 at Platform in Leeds.

LegalTech in Leeds 'The Big Hack' is part of Innovation@Leeds, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Coordinated by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and led byLeeds City Council.

‍Challenges

The event will focus on finding innovative, technology-based solutions to three key challenges faced by the legal sector that sit under one of the three key aims of LegalTech in Leeds:

1.    Accelerate digital transformation of the legal sector

2.    Enhance access to legal services

3.    Support entrepreneurs looking to work within the legal sector

Team Structure

There will be six teams of six people, all consisting of at least one person assigned to the following roles:

·     Developer

·     Business Analyst

·     UX

·     Legal Specialist

Teams will be designed prior to the event by LegalTech inLeeds, based on registrations. This is to ensure diversity of skills and experience across all teams. Please sign-up as an individual to the appropriate team role/ ticket type.

Process

Each team will be allocated their own room and will work together over the course of the day to solve one of the key challenges. In the afternoon, each team will deliver a 10-minute pitch to a judging panel (with 5 minutes Q&A) and will be scored against an approved judging criterion.

Prize

The winning team will be awarded a total prize of £6000.

Requirement

This event will require you to commit one full day of your time. Please do not sign-up if this is not feasible for you as your team will rely upon your attendance and input on the day. If you sign-up and then can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible as we will need to reallocate your role to someone on the waiting list.

·     08:40 – 09:00 Challenge Setting

·     09:00 – 16:15 Teams Breakout into Rooms (working lunch will be provided)

·     16:30 – 18:00 Judging Panel and Pitch Sessions

·     18:00 - 19:30 Winners Announced + Networking Drinks and Celebration
