What's The Story?

Background

LegalTech in Leeds was first launched as a short-term initiative, run and coordinated by Whitecap Consulting and with the support of multiple partners and sponsors, to progress the recommendations of the Leeds City Region LegalTech and Innovation Report, with the aim of bringing together the legal and tech sectors across Leeds City Region to encourage and facilitate collaboration and accelerate the digital transformation of the legal sector.

Aims and objectives

• Bring together the legal and tech sectors.
• Help drive digital adoption across the legal sector.
• Support tech entrepreneurs to engage with the legal sector.
• Improve access to legal services.

This initiative culminated in the inaugural LegalTech in Leeds Conference hosted in March 2022 where we saw representatives from the legal, tech, education and public sectors convene to discuss and explore the latest developments and disruptive thinking in LegalTech.

What's happened since?

Since the conference, there has been a strong desire from stakeholders across Leeds City Region for LegalTech in Leeds to continue bridging the gap between the legal and tech sectors through ongoing events and activities.

Where are we now?

With the support of multiple partners and sponsors, we are now continuing to develop an exciting programme of activity including seminars and workshops, networking drinks, our second annual conference and our first ever hackathon, as well as an update on the Leeds City Region LegalTech report.

We have also established a LegalTech in Leeds advisory board which meets every month to discuss the ongoing progress of the initiative and to ensure we remain committed to our aims and true to our values: Professional, Inclusive, Collaborative, Independent.
